David Esselman

Founder and Executive Director

David has nearly two decades of experience within the education sector. He has worked at schools in Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY, led teams at a variety of non-profit organizations and served as Director of Venture Philanthropy for the Eli & Edythe Broad Foundation. He is co-founder and partner at Great Gains, an independent K-12 education consulting practice focused on making education exceptional for at-risk populations.

David received a B.A. in political science and an M.B.A. from UCLA . He and his wife have two children attending Los Angeles public schools.

Director of Immersive Development

Sean has created several virtual-reality based experiences, including Enter Hamlet, an educational mobile VR game for Google Cardboard, Ecstatis, an ethereal music-based virtual reality experience and VirtusMedica, an augmented reality application designed to help people with motor skill disorders monitor their disease and to help researchers track the efficacy of various treatments. Formerly Associate Director of Technology at McGarryBowen, a technology focused advertising agency, with experience in project management, creative ideation, and quality assurance. Sean has nearly a dozen years of software development experience. Sean also has a strong background in Shakespearean Theater and has performed at theaters across the country. He received his B.A. from Williams College and earned an M.F.A. from University of California, Irvine.
